Shocking Cuts to Social Care

Waltham Forest Town Hall

Your Labour-run council plans to make cuts worth £13.6m in 2025/26, including nearly £2m in cuts to children's social care.

While cutting crucial services, Labour is planning to raise Council Tax. For someone living in a Band D property, the annual bill will rise by £104.

To add insult to injury, Labour councillors have already voted to reduce support for those needing Council Tax relief. This contentious decision led to the suspension of one Labour Councillor who had abstained from the vote, seemingly as punishment for refusing to support Labour’s cuts.

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Kath Pollard said, “Labour promised to invest in our community's future and to make our borough the best place for kids to grow up. Instead it's putting some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in Waltham Forest under even more pressure during the cost of living crisis. So much for 'a fairer future'.”
