Labour Cut Council Tax Relief

Waltham Forest Town Hall

Labour councillors have voted to cut support for those needing council tax relief.

This shameful action will put some of the most vulnerable and poorest people in Waltham Forest under even more pressure during the cost of living crisis.

Only one Labour Councillor abstained from the vote. They have since been suspended from the Labour council group, seemingly as punishment for refusing to support Labour’s austerity cuts.

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Joe Dyer said, “It is shameful that Labour are taking such a heartless approach towards some of the poorest and most vulnerable residents in our borough.”

“Labour took away the winter fuel allowance, then they refused to compensate the WASPI women. Now, Labour have cut back on council tax support. Where does it stop?”
